100 Worder Do Or Die

100 Worder

Do Or Die
Bitter Lemon

The anticipation is always worse than the reality. I repeat the mantra whilst riffling through a blur of magazines.
‘Pop your top off,’ says Nurse.
Pop indeed.
‘Stand here. Lean forwards. Let’s pop your breast onto the plate.’
I’ll bloody pop you in a minute.
She lifts my right breast and slaps it down. ‘Comfy?’
Hah!
She brings the top plate down.

Blessed relief as she releases the pressure.
‘Good girl, and again.’
Ohgodohgodohgod
‘Excellent.’ She grabs my left breast. ‘Up we pop.’
I want to kill her. I want to refuse. Then I remember why I’m doing this.

  1. Painful even to think about, but as you so rightly say, vital. Well written.
