100 Worder: To Be A Queen
Dawn Knox
Bloody Mary
The cries of support are almost lost amongst jeers and taunts, but they give her little comfort. Once upon a time, the crowds had gathered to praise and cheer her, but people are fickle and easily influenced.
The beads of her rosary move methodically through her fingers, while she offers up silent prayers for her soul and suddenly, at an unseen signal, the crowd falls silent.
It is time.
Gripping the rosary tightly, she flings her arms sideways to indicate her readiness. Her exposed neck feels the disturbance of the air as the axe blade slices downwards.
The crowd gasps.
