“You’ve paid for what, Jack? An oil well?’
“Yes! It’s so exciting! The Goblin’s going to drill a well for us and take care of the extraction. We’ll make a fortune.”
“Goblin! You trusted that grasping, deceitful Goblin?”
“Don’t be like that, Ma! He’s done tests that show the oil’s under our lawn.”
“And how much have you paid him?”
“Only fifty pieces of gold.”
Jack’s mother’s knees buckled. She sat at the kitchen table, her head in her hands.
“Ma, trust me! I’ve got guarantees. The Goblin promises we’re going to produce the finest olive oil in the country.”
