Introduction
This collection is a collection of seventy stories, each 280 words. They were inspired by the first picture seen on my Twitter feed on a given day.
58. Cloudscapes 19 September 2019
It was a pretty decent day for the 19 September. Too hot for a jacket and no need for a raincoat. There were a few clouds but they were friendly white ones, forming stories as they chased across the sky. It was pleasant lying here, the last day but one of his vacation. Next week the office, today the smell of new-mown grass, the sound of a waterfall tinkling nearby and the wonderful warm sun on his face. The grass was even dry. This felt more like July than September.
Now the cloud formed a bear. It stood on its hind legs and punched the air. It was ferocious and cross. But now it started to change shape. It became a creature on four legs again and it was charging, its nostrils flaring. An angry bull. That cloud had a dark edge. Would it rain after all?
What was he thinking? Bear? Bull? He was on holiday, for goodness sake. Why was he thinking about the stock market on holiday? Of course it never went away and if you took your eyes off it it might attack you from behind. He couldn't look at it just now though. The Wi-Fi in the holiday let didn't work.
A cloud moved to his right so that the branch of a tree looked like a tick. The tree's leaves were still green so the message seemed emphatic. So what was it telling him? That he had got it right? What had he got right?
A breeze tickled his face. Yes that was it; he should truly be on holiday and take advantage of this moment. Next week would come soon enough. No worries.
